Pet Week!

We had a great week talking about our furry friends at home! We loved talking about caring for pets and even had our own veterinarian shop set up in our room!  Some of us were the pet owners brining in sick pets and others were the doctors "writing their orders."  So cute!  We also got a new student this week!  Welcome to our new friend Zoe. :)

Sorting and finding the right shape.

Our sensory tub was set up to feed the birds.  We are making our finger muscles strong by using the clothespins to pick up the food for the birds.

Our footprints made for some cute puppies this week.

A real frog was just hanging out on the playground...seemed appropriate for pet week!

Matching letters is a great activity we do at school for letter identification...this is a good one to do at home (cookie sheets and letters could be found at Dollar Tree)

Identifying the letters in our names is a goal we are working on right now.  Some of us can verbally spell our name, but knowing what the letter looks like (and even writing it) is a different challenge.  This is also one that is easy to create at home. :)

T Week!

Turtles

Teddy bears

Tigers

and more!

A sea of blue!

A glimpse of some of our centers that start our day.  This mud bath (below) was a favorite!!!  The mud was just oats, paint and water but these puppies needed a bath!

A great fine motor activity!  These kid tongs help make hands strong when used to move the pom poms into different cups.

We started our poetry notebooks this week and they will come home soon!  We are working on touching under each word to read our poems.  These poems will be easy, repetitive and have simple sight words.  Some kiddos will begin really reading them and some will have the chant memorized.  Either way this is the early stages of reading and builds confidence.  It also shows the early steps of reading and the "how to" of what good readers do.  These are fun and a good way for you to support their learning and praise their success. :)

Happy happy birthday friend!  Thanks for the yummy treats!
