Insects!

We enjoyed learning about our creepy, crawly friends the insects the last two weeks! We learned the specific characteristics that make an insect an insect through songs, books, discussions, dancing and art projects. We know all about their 6 legs, 3 body parts, antennae and sometimes wings. We are pretty smart scientists at LAP! Painting the ladybug Adding the eyes

Our finished ladybugs with movable wings

Even princesses like to learn about insects Searching for real insects on the playground led us to some worms!

Care for a worm anyone? :)

WOW! Nice writing kiddos!

We love diving into our new themed books each week. This author found a different butterfly representing every letter of the alphabet on its wings. We thought that was

pretty neat.

Ryan's grandma visited us with her amazing insect collections! Thanks Mrs. Sue for coming and sharing...you helped us see what we had been learning about all week!

We blotted paint on one side of the butterfly and folded it to see that each side was the same-a perfect example of symmetry.

We started "student of the day" this week. Each day we draw and write about one of our friends in class and then we each get to take home a big book all about us!

We used pasta noodles to represent the lifecycle of the butterfly

Using watercolors to paint coffee filters made for some colorful butterflies

Last but not least, we had a special birthday! Happy birthday Cort! We hope you have an extra special birthday weekend. :)
