Easter Week

We had another fun week at preschool with our new theme Easter.  Since we are getting closer and closer to kindergarten, we are able to do so many more activities in a day!  The kiddos can go to each table, check off their own name on a clipboard and work on the activity either with  a teacher or independently!  It is amazing how much they have grown! I am so proud of each and every smartie in our room!
Working hard at table top centers each morning
writing words on the big magnetic board
matching letters
Putting Easter eggs in order with numbers 10-20 is no problem for these boys! :)
Our sensory table had Easter grass, eggs, pom poms and letters to find and explore.
We can recognize several sight words now and put sentences together to read.
We use our pointer finger to read each word.
We loved the song about bunnies fast asleep....especially the part where they wake up and hop hop hop!
One of our favorite activities this week was passing each friend's egg around the circle and shaking it to guess what was inside.  We were stumped several times!  There were some creative items inside each one!
We started our Queen and King of the day this week. This special friend gets to wear the crown all day, bring in a special item from home to share and gets to be interviewed by their friends.  They also sit in the "royal" chair during snack.
We learned step by step how to draw bunnies.  It looks like we have some artists on our hands!
This group of girls are working hard to color their new reader for the week, Honey Bunny.
This King of the day brought in his favorite "Boo Boo" to share with us. :)
We enjoyed all the bunnies and candy, but learned that the true meaning of Easter is that Jesus rose from the grave. We made a tomb with a rock that rolls away and wrote "Jesus is risen!"
We love to incorporate yummy treats into math.  Our jelly beans helped us sort, count, graph and discuss most and least this week.
We made little Easter baskets to collect our treats.
Of course we had to get our hand print into a craft...."Some bunny loves you" for sure!!
After the adventure lab today, we walked into the room to discover that the Easter bunny had visited us.  Not only had he made a big mess in our class but he left eggs all over to find.  They were so excited to run around and find the eggs and footprints he had left hopping through our room.
Some of the eggs even had money in them!  It was our lucky day. :)
Thanks for a great week at school friends!  Have a fabulous spring break with your family!  I will see you in a week with our new theme oceans!

Rainbow Week

We had a wonderful week in our brand new school!  We LOVE our new space and couldn't wait to get started each day at school. :)  Our theme this week was rainbows.  There were sooooo many fun activities to do with rainbows and colors that let us use our imaginations, creativity and art skills.  We loved writing rainbow style on everything too.
Enjoying our new table top centers
We love our new reading tent

Mrs. Traci helped us review ordinal numbers from last week with our shamrocks.
We wrote our friends names using rainbow style
We decorated rainbows with Fruit Loops and enjoyed a few to eat. :)
Our new blocks-this group worked together to build a few tall structures
The art easel had colored paint all week so we could paint rainbows or anything colorful.
The kids are loving the minds in motion room!  We get to go each and every day and enjoy the 18 stations.  We look forward to it all day.

We had a birthday celebration this week with some yummy brownies. Happy birthday friend!
We love working big floor puzzles.
We show how smart we are using our finger to read familiar text. This story is about the colors in the rainbow.

We used a spinner and special dice to take turns rolling or spinning a color. This color told us which marker to use for our sight word review game.  It was fun to try and get each color.
We made rainbow collages of our names
We remembered that God loves everyone and added people to our rainbow in our family that God loves...of course including our own name. :)
Shamrock stamping
Making rainbows with tissue paper for our colors poem

Our traveling pet Jake the Jaguar now makes his home in our reading tent where we share good stories with him each day!
* Thanks for an awesome week!!

Dental Health Week

Last week our theme was dental health.  It's always good to discuss the importance of taking care of our teeth and making healthy food choices.  We loved having Dr. Jenkins visit our school and teach us all about brushing our teeth and getting rid of the "sugar bugs."  He brought two puppets and the kids laughed and laughed!  We also started new table top centers this week and everyone was excited to see what their new job was each morning.  Each activity helps us sharpen our fine motor or academic skills and prepares us for kindergarten.  We look so big and smart in these pictures!
Using tongs to transfer marbles takes a steady hand and concentration.
One friend is finishing the button pattern while the other is hole punching a paper which strengthens her fine motor skills.
Another fine motor activity...using tweezers to transfer tiny pom poms.
This activity has us rolling a dice to get a b or d and then finding it on the case.  This helps us distinguish the difference between the two.
Our art/writing table had us independently practicing our new letter for the week.
At the end of the day each day, one friend has been sharing a book on CD with the whole class.
Dr. Jenkins taught us about healthy teeth and had us laughing a lot.

We finished our student of the days this week. I am SOOO proud of how well this class has done taking their time to draw each classmate.
We enjoyed some silly songs and dancing this week. Love these faces!
We worked on painting ourselves for something special that will hang outside of our new classroom!!

We are starting to use our pointer finger to read familiar sight words in our paper readers. We sure look like kindergartners!
Another friend pretending to be the teacher and sharing a book. :)
This week on our magnetic board, we matched pictures with their beginning letter sound.
* Next week our theme is dinosaurs which is always a class favorite!
