Author Study: Laura Numerous

It was SO good to be back to school!  This week we did an author study and picked one of our favorites in preschool: Laura Numeroff.  She wrote all the "If you Give a...." books. Our favorites were If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, If you Give a Cat a Cupcake, If you Give a Dog a Doughnut and If you Give a Moose a Muffin. Her stories are circle stories so they end back at the beginning.  We spent a lot of time recalling the order of events of the story.  They did so good with this!

We were excited to introduce some new items in the green room.  This is what we'll do the first 2 minutes of our time. These are Brock beads and kids focus on one color at a time.  This works on eye training and convergence which is great for tracking, reading and even athletics.  If they focus correctly they will see an X with the strings.  It is training our eyes to work together to focus on one thing at a time and is part of the Minds in Motion program.  How cool that we can make our eyes stronger each day preschool!  Even the teachers have been doing it!

The new roller coaster is a huge hit!

U is for umbrella!!!  U was a challenging one this week. :)

And U is for unicorn!

And some U's, utility trucks, utensils and a ukulele!  So fun!

We are getting stronger and more coordinated with our cutting skills each week.  We are putting together the story If you Give a Dog a Doughnut and then retelling it.  Such great comprehension strategies for kindergarten.

These will be hanging in our hall.  If you give _____ a cupcake, he'll want _____ to go with it.  Love their answers!

Every letter, every sound, everyday!

Some of our favorite Laura Numeroff books!

Yummy muffins for If you Give a Moose a Muffin. Thanks to this friend's mom! :). Reminder no school Monday (ML King Day).  See you Tuesday for our new theme, winter animals!
