Gingerbread week

Our room sure smelled good this week as we painted, created and cooked all things Gingerbread.
Painting our gingerbread friends with paint and cinnamon
Working hard to count Christmas symbols and find the correct number
We made gingerbread ornaments with applesauce and cinnamon. It was a bit of a sticky mess which made it fun!

We love our new light box we bought with trike-a-thon money.
Rolling the dice, counting the dots and using one to one correspondence with bingo dotters to get Santa to his toy workshop
Pipe cleaners and beads made very colorful snowflakes
We love using watercolors to paint
We used our new letter bean bags to match up letters with a tossing game

Our gingerbread creations drying out near the window
Love it!
We can read all of our color words and 4 new sight words. Today we wrote them out and are putting them onto a word ring to keep in our bags for practice.
Instead of decorating gingerbread houses this year, we decorated Christmas trees-still super yummy but a little easier to build. :)

It looks like we all enjoyed it!  :)

Polar Express Week

I lOVE Polar Express week!  It just gets you in the Christmas spirit!  The Polar Express is such a good story reminding us to believe in Christmas no matter how old we are! :)  Here are some pictures of our week in reverse order. The first several are from today where we "rode" on the Polar Express and wore our PJ's just like the kids in the story. Enjoy!
Our silly faces
Our big cheeses :)
Hot cocoa, marshmallows and a candy cane. Yummy!

"The first gift of Christmas!" (from the story...we all got bells).
Our tickets
We are artists! Check out these fabulous drawings.

Using the hole punchers on the golden tickets that said "Believe" like the movie. This gives us good fine motor practice and is fun!
Different thread spools make great tire tracks and snowflakes!  We added a sentence that said, "I can see a ____" to describe what we might see on the way to the North Pole. This makes us a writer and a reader!
Great job girls!

On Tuesday, the class Christmas tree came out and we all got to decorate it.
Looking good friends!
Each car of this train has a letter in our last name
Pattern blocks not only made our trains this week, but many other pictures.

Just having a little reading time. :)

Of course we had to set up the train tracks for this week.
We used pattern blocks to make a train then graphed which shapes we used. Wow!  We worked on spatial reasoning, colors, counting, shape recognition, graphing and determining which had the most and least. We are smarties for sure!
What a fun week using literature to make so many connections! We can't wait for next week to have fun with our new theme, Gingerbread.

Thanksgiving week

This week we remembered all we are thankful for while learning about the first Thanksgiving.  We celebrated with our friends in Mrs. Jaime and Mrs. Jenn's class with a story and some yummy Thanksgiving treats.  Thanks friends for another great week!  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!!
Identifying and finding numbers in order to create a path to the Mayflower.
Lacing cards strengthens our fine motor skills
I loved reading all the answers on where families get their turkeys and how to cook them!  So fun. :)
Putting together and reading the sentence "I am thankful for all my blessings."
Check out all the fabulous disguised turkeys!!
Matching the letter sound with each picture card
Look at these pretty Pilgrim girls
Working hard on our graphing skills
Meeting with our other Pilgrim and Native American friends.
Praying for our blessings and our yummy snacks with our friends
It looks like we are looking forward to eating turkey this week!
