Apples Week & Sweet Grandparents!

Woowee we were busy this week!  It was apple week, one of my favorites and there were plenty of activities to explore!  We also invited our sweet grandparents in to enjoy special activities with us.  Between all of that fun, we managed to squeeze in a visit from Mrs. Margie..."the butterfly lady" who taught us all about the lifecycle of a butterfly!  What a fun week.
We loved having our grandparents and special guests visit.  We rotated through 4 stations with them...we painted a family tree together, put together a trail mix by counting out pieces together, decorated a picture frame for them to keep and showed them around the room to our favorite centers.

We loved getting to paint their hands for our family tree!  We think the grandparents kind of enjoyed it too. :)

Great building boys!
Look at those smiles!  Who knew counting could be so fun? :)

What a sweet butterfly for snack time!
Great work girls!
During carpet time, we will practice math stories.  For example, "I have 6 apples and I give 5 to my friends. How many do I have left?"  They love these!  Math stories are great for car rides.

Our letter this week was H
We know how to go to the independent table, cross our name off of the list, write our names, and complete our work!  We are looking like kindergarteners when we do this. :)
This week we used our hand and our forearm for a tree!  We think it tickles just a little...ha!
Mrs. Margie brought us eggs to see on milkweed, caterpillars, chrysalis and monarch butterflies!  It was a really cool experience!

Eggs

Caterpillars
Chrysalis
And finally the butterflies
There they go....
"H" is for hotdog
and hats
and Hello Kitty and hanger
and harmonica!
All of our "H" objects. We are a good looking green bunch. :)
We taste tested red, yellow and green apples and voted on our favorite.

This friend got to go to Hubers and pick an apple straight from the tree.  She showed us how the leaf was still attached.
Graphing our favorite apple

Granny Smith was the winner!
We labeled parts of an apple
We rolled a dice, counted the dots and found that number on our apple tree.
We counted our results to make our own personal graph.

Happy birthday buddy!
Finally, one of our favorite activities was listening to the story "The Little Red House" that was attached to the newsletter. The little boy found the little red house with no doors, no windows and a star inside!  They loved seeing the inside of the apple at the end of the story.
