Our Family & Friends!

This week our theme was family and friends.  We loved sharing our family house projects and telling all of the wonderful things we do with our families.

Our color this week was red. We worked on  spelling and reading the word.  Our color words are some of the first words we learn to recognize.

Table top centers in the morning

Our letter this week was "L" and we made a little book all about the letter and the sound it makes.

We drew our families and worked on adding details to each person. We even labeled each family member with their name.

These boys are trying out a new game where they have to match their friends with their name cards.  They used the first letter of each name, made the sound and tried to find the friend.

We love to visit the minds in motion room each day.  Minds in Motion is a research based center in Louisville and we have implemented the maze here at school.  Although the kids just think they are exercising and having fun, each station is working on their bodies and their brain. Check out more information at mimlearning.com

Check out all of these good friends!

We loved sharing our "L" object on Wednesday.  We had legos, locks, lightsabers, Louisville Cardinals and more!!  What a fun way to remember the sound!

We also wore our red!  We sure are a good looking bunch!

More time with friends and at centers.

Happy birthday boys!!

"All About Me" week

What a wonderful first week of school!! I am so proud of these little ones and how well they played and worked during their first week of kinder-prep.  We started each day with our table top centers, enjoyed stories and songs at carpet time and then got to work with our teachers and friends at centers.  Our theme was "all about me" and we focused on our names and things that make us special!  Look at all of these cuties in action!

We graphed our eye color and compared the results.  We had the most blue eyed friends in this group!

Identifying our names to graph our results

The Play-Doh table is always a hit!

We found our names and dotted them up!

We counted how many letters was in our own name.

We even measured the length of our names with cubes.  We discovered that the cubes were a little bit smaller than the boxes so it took more cubes to cover our names.

We made presents and talked about our names being our "first gift."

We love the wooden boat in the classroom and spend a lot of time there with our friends.

We sang a song about liking our friends and shook hands with others.

We drew a person to look just like us

Mrs. Traci painted our hand for the coconut tree from Chica Chica Boom Boom.

Finally, we had our name cut apart and we had to glue it back together in the right order.  We sure are smart!  We can't wait for next week. :)
