Pumpkins!

We had a blast with pumpkins this week! We discovered that there were many activities to do on the outside and inside of the pumpkin. We loved digging inside with tools but not so much with our bare hands. ha!

Decorating our pumpkin with washable markers and then erasing it with a wet sponge and starting over again. :)

Fire Safety Week

This week we followed up with what we learned from our visit with The Lafayette Fire Department with a few more fire safety tips. We read many books about firefighters, fire stations and tips on staying safe. Next week we'll continue our fall themes with pumpkins!

Trying out a new floor puzzle

Forming the letter "I" with wooden pieces

We discovered that mixing red and yellow makes orange...the color of fire!

There's always time for a puppet show!

There are many activities in our room to help us work with letters and build words.

We all signed our name on the thank you card for the fire department

Our student of the day continues to share his/her special items

We've had an IUS student every Tuesday for 5 weeks. We loved working with Mrs. Ashley and wish her well on her career path. :)

On Ashley's last day, we gave her thank you cards we each created.

We were so excited our friend was back to school and thought his cast was pretty cool! What a tough little guy! :)

Still enjoying the warm, sunshiny days!

We have several groups of animals that are fun to play with each day.

We have many more friends using whiteboards to write words. Wow!!

The firefighters told us we should know our address in case of an emergency. We are starting to learn that, plus our phone number and birthdays.

More fun items from our student of the day

Mrs. Jennifer got a hamster and we were very interested in watching this little guy move around in his home. :)

Apples!

We had two weeks of apple fun in Pre-K! There were so many fun things to do with apples it was hard to choose which pictures to put on here! We made many colorful crafts, taste tested, graphed, stamped with apples, and even discovered a star inside our apples. What a fun theme!

Sequencing the cycle of an apple

Reading about apples

We LOVED the story about the little red house with no doors or windows and a star inside! We didn't know that when you cut an apple horizontally, a star appears!

We used our bodies to go through the apple cycle. We started as seeds then grew into saplings, then into trees with leaves, then apple blossoms and finally an apple tree!

We enjoyed hearing our student of the day share

We made our fingers into worms and snuck through an apple. :)

We taste tested 3 varieties of apples

Green was our favorite!

We graphed the results
