President's Week

We had a wonderful week learning about some of our famous presidents of the past, our current president and why this day is important.  We used presidents' faces on coins to introduce the concept of money and each coin's value.  We loved working with money...who doesn't love money right? :)

Reading our new sight word reader
Mrs. Traci and I laughed so hard playing limbo with the class.  The faces the kids would make trying to get under the pole was hilarious! This was a fun activity and one we'll have to do again soon!

Table top centers

Each week we review a letter, how to write it, the sound it makes and words that begin with that sound.  We like to practice drawing our letters big in the sky as we say how to form them correctly...."Big line down, big line up, big line down, big line up" for the W.

Identifying coins
We have a lot of good candidates for president in our class! :)
We are using the sight words we know to put sentences together and read them. "I see the quarter." "I see the dime."  We are reading AND identifying coins in this activity!  So smart!
We started our poetry journals this week!  We'll add new poems each week and have a special book to keep at the end of the year.

We played lowercase bingo with a partner as our teammate. They loved it!  I would say a sound and they not only had to figure out which letter made the sound, but identify the lowercase letter on their board.

More sorting and identifying coin work

We learned a new song that identified the name of each coin and its value. This friend pointed to the correct coin as we sang.
Log cabins for Abe Lincoln

We flipped a penny and graphed our heads and tails results.
Growing our muscles and our minds in the minds in motion room each day!

We talked about our country this week and worked on reciting the Pledge of Allegiance

* What a fun week at preschool. Next week's theme is dental health. See you Monday!
