A LOVEly week

Love was in the air at LAP this week as we worked with our friends and families on Valentine projects. Love is "hugs and kisses, rocking babies, helping Mom with dishes and laundry, helping Dad shovel the driveway, and helping friends according to these smart love bugs." I couldn't have said it any better! I am so proud of the love they show each other each and every day at school by playing together, sharing, using kind words and helping each other. Thank you SO much to all that got to come to school to paint pottery. What a special day for us! Don't forget to scroll to the bottom of this post for a video with a special message for you. Nursery Rhymes

This week we enjoyed reading and singing familiar nursery rhymes and learning some new ones too! Since we are beginning readers, we love to listen for the rhyme, rhythm and even repetition in poems and stories because we can chime in and read them too! We are pretty smart you know! :)

Humpty Dumpty made his way into our classroom

We carefully passed Humpty Dumpty around to our friends and tried our best not to let him have "a great fall."

This took great concentration and a steady hand. :)

Surprisingly, Humpty survived his few falls so then we decided he needed to have his "great fall."

Poor Humpty Dumpty...this doesn't look good, but the kids were so excited!! Who knew how much fun you could have with an egg? :)

It's amazing to watch the curious minds of a preschooler

Between all the egg fun, we still had time to play cooperatively with our friends. We are getting so big that we can sit with many friends and plan a whole community, a family, a farm, anything our creative minds allow us to think of. Preschool is a fun place to be with friends!

Polar animals

We finished up our winter themes this week with polar animals. We loved learning about what polar animals have on their bodies to help them adapt to frigid temperatures and survive in a land of snow and ice. We pretended to be penguins and polar animals swimming, diving and looking for something to eat. :) We worked hard creating special polar art projects and continue to look like more like kindergartners each day.

Instead of our handprint, we used our footprint to make some cute penguins. I wish I had every student on video getting their foot painted! They were SO ticklish!!!

We are getting so good at writing our first names and many of us are writing our last names! We sure are some smart cookies!

We even can stamp out and write the sight words we've been learning!

We had fun playing, "penguin, penguin, polar bear" instead of duck, duck, goose.

We always pray and thank God for our yummy snack and friends each day. It is precious to hear the students pray.

While we eat our snack, Mrs. Traci reads us a bible story.

We enjoyed the new toys and center items this week, especially the transportation vehicles.

We taped a polar bear on white paper and then sponge painted all over the paper. When we took off our taped piece, we had a perfect white polar bear standing in an icy region. We thought this was pretty magical!

These fun creations will hopefully make the perfect fridge magnet. :)

Ice and Snow!

Brrrrrrrrrrrr....we brought a little of the outside into our classroom the last two weeks exploring snow and ice. We loved having the sensory table full of frozen treasures. We used syringes filled with warm water to try and melt the ice. When our curiosity got the better of us we just used hammers to break through the ice to find the hidden mysteries. :) We did such a great job sharing the space and the materials with our friends!

We look like big kindergartners these days writing so nicely and reading our sight word books. WOW!

Making snowflakes was challenging but we are really good with trying new things and sticking with it. We realized every snowflake is unique just like us!

Way to go!

Since we haven't been able to get outside to play we brought some action and fun indoors. We played hot potato and had to pass it quickly before the potato's music ended. We loved it!!

I loved watching their faces as they hurried. Such great teamwork!

Playing in the snow (shaving cream) was so much fun! We got to practice our letters, numbers and even some of our new sight words we've learned all while getting a little messy....always a good thing in preschool!

Some of us got a little messier than others and didn't mind one bit! :)

Welcome back!

It was a wonderful first week back to school! We enjoyed talking about and creating snowy pictures and definitely enjoyed seeing our friends again. Here are some cuties holding their snowman creations they made with their families. We sure do have some talented kids! :)
