A little of this and a little of that!

Since I didn't have a chance to blog last week, this post has pictures from last week's fire safety theme and this week's pumpkin theme. :)
Making firefighter puppets
We loved strengthening our fine motor skills by cutting straws in the sensory table
Each new theme gives us a whole selection of new books to browse through.  We love reading!
We did a great job on our home project...decorating a pumpkin.  I included a few but they were all SO creative!

Mixing red and yellow gives us orange! We discovered this and stamped and wrote "fire" for fire safety week.
Practicing our fire drill
We worked on learning our home address to go with calling 911.
The Lafayette Fire Department visited us and brought their fire truck!  We loved it!
This week we enjoyed the theme pumpkins!  Water coloring is the best.
We worked hard on our table top stations.  Next week we begin all new stations and we're very excited about this!
A wall full of fabulous pumpkins!
We absolutely loved this activity. We used kid friendly hammers and golf tees to hammer into the pumpkins.  This activity strengthens our fingers and hands for writing...and it's so much fun!
More clever pumpkins

We know how to sing "5 Little Pumpkins."
These two smarties used the tinker toys to build these rollers....what a great idea!
More color mixing...they had to figure out exactly how much red and yellow to use to make the perfect orange pumpkin.
Putting numbered pumpkins in order and practice writing each number.

Decorating pumpkins with markers

We predicted the circumference of this pumpkin by cutting the amount of yarn that we thought would go around it. Then we tested our yarn and actually measured it.
Finally, today we dug in!  Some of us loved digging in the seeds and pulp while others preferred to observe. :)
We tested many items in our room to determine what would float and sink.  We were surprised to learn that a pumpkin can float!  *It was such a fun week in kinder-prep learning about pumpkins.  We can't wait for next week!
